Urban Botanic Catalogs!

I am so excited about these new catalogs. I have lots of contacts out of state who want to do parties, but there is no Fragrance Designer nearby. I'm contacting ALL of them to see if they want to do a catalog party. Response has been very good so far.

Because I have to have these things organized on paper, in order to wrap my own brain around them, I created a hostess letter and a hostess summary sheet for use with these catalog parties. I've posted them in the Files section in both the UB TopNotes and UB Fans Yahoo groups. (If you're not a member of either group, contact me and I'll tell you how to join.)

You're free to use these forms, as is, or as an idea tickler to create your own.

In my catalog party hostess packet, I will be putting:

  • hostess letter
  • hostess summary sheet
  • 5 catalogs
  • 15 order forms
  • 5 business cards
  • consultant brochure
  • a small lotion or parfum sample if the hostess hasn't made a UB product herself yet

If the hostess is local, I'll loan them some tester products and a warming plate with a vial of oil (like McKenna suggested in the Feb newsletter).

I think this is going to be great!

If you're an Urban Botanic customer, or have thought about being one but didn't want to have a regular workshop, now's the time to try the catalog party! Contact me for details.

Show Them the Math

I can't believe how fast these new Signature Fragrances are going! I've now done five of the eight workshops I scheduled while I was in KY, and I've sold a total of six Signature Fragrance Collections--with the free oil warmer.

This is such a great deal! I just know that if you let your past customers know about it, many of them will want to get in on it--especially if you show them the math and how much cheaper it is to scent your home with UB oils vs candles. ($22.50/110 hours [candles] vs $13.50/1800 hours [UB oil]).

Go on, give it a try. And let me know how it goes for you.

Only 8 More Days!

I had my first workshop since UB's September Special was announced. There were four mother/daughter groups there. Three of the four ordered the special. It was really a no-brainer, especially for those who already used candles or oils to scent their home. When I showed them how much money they could save by switching to UB oils and what a great deal this special was, they leapt at the offer!

I have 7 more workshops scheduled between now and the end of the month. I really think this Special is going to have a huge impact on workshop sales, as well as on repeat sales to these customers.

If you haven't already done so, GET ON THE PHONE and start telling your previous customers about this deal. I know you're going to have a great response.

Urban Botanic's September Special

For a limited time only, get a FREE UB oil warmer
when you order any Signature Fragrance Collection!

Are you getting the response you want on Urban Botanic's September Special?

[You do know about this special, don't you? Everyone who buys a U.B. You Signature Fragrance Collection gets a free UB Oil Warming Plate. If this is news to you, read here.]

If you're not getting a good response, consider doing the following:

  • Call your past customers, especially those who have been hostesses and those who have made more than one fragrance, and let them know about this limited time special. Many of them are just waiting for a reason to purchase their Signature Fragrance Collection. A free oil warmer (giving the value of the collection a $63 savings) might just be their tipping point!

  • Send an e-mail out to your past customers, as well as to everyone in your Prospect Manager. I used Constant Contact to send mine. Everyone on my team should have received a copy of it. You're welcome to use any of the layout, images and verbiage in your own e-mail. (If you don't have a Constant Contact account, but you're interested in getting one, e-mail me. I can send you an invitation to sign up that will give you a $30 credit.)

  • If you blog, create a post and talk about it. Share your excitement over the new UB Home Collection. [If you don't know about the Home Collection, click here.]

  • Do you have friends and neighbors who are already using scented candles and oil warmers? Let them know how much they can save by switching to the UB perfume oils.

  • If you're having a workshop any time this next week, make sure you tell everyone about it. Not only can they get the oil warmer with the existing Signature Fragrance Collections, but you can allow them to customize it by selecting their six favorite oils for the collection.

  • Let your customers know what a great deal this special really is. It's unlikely that we'll see anything like it again soon.

  • Make sure your customers know that they get the bath and body product with the Collection AND a continued 15% discount on unscented products, forever.

  • Also let them know that the same oils can be used in both the bath and body products and in the oil warmer. So let's say they have a signature fragrance that uses three oils and then they create a home scent using three oils--that's their collection. They can make their house smell like them, or they can smell like their house. Fun!
These collections with the free warmer really are selling fast. In fact, the home office sold out of the warmers the very first week! No worries though; they're back in stock.

How Great is UB Shower Gel?

When your customers ask if our Shower Gel really lathers up as good as we say it does, tell them about this.

I knew I was running low on my Raspberry Macaroon shower gel, but I was hoping I could make it last through the end of the summer. I know that as soon as the air turns even the tiniest bit crisp I’ll want to switch to a fall fragrance. There’s no way I’ll use a whole bottle of raspberry shower gel over the next three weeks so it would end up sitting all winter and who knows if I’ll want to be a raspberry macaroon next summer? I may want to be a cool berry, or a macadamia nut, or pina colada. I’m fickle that way.

So yesterday, I ran out. But being the clever penny-pincher that I am, I put a quarter inch of water in the bottle, shook it up and it lasted one more day. Then I forgot I was out. So this morning, when I grabbed my puff scrubby and went to pour shower gel on it, all I had was four drops. Seriously. I counted the four teensy watered-down drops as they fell onto the scrubby. Then I stood there trying to decide what to do. Do I drip all over my house while I make more? Or do I (shudder) use some of the old store-bought gel that I haven’t gotten around to throwing away yet?

In the throes of my dilemma, I suddenly realized I was unconsciously wringing my hands around my scrubby. I looked down and there were bubbles! I am not kidding you. Of course, it wasn’t the super rich, decadent lather that I usually indulge in, but FOUR DROPS produced enough lather to wash my entire body! FOUR WATERED-DOWN DROPS!

This stuff is amazing!

Booking Blitz

How did you do on Saturday's Booking Blitz? Did you make your calls? How many workshops did you book? What did you like about about the blitz? What would you do differently? Let us know in the comments trail.

Here's my report: I unexpectedly became a grandmother last week and had the night shift on Friday, so I slept through the blitz. However, I have rescheduled my blitz for tomorrow night and will report then.

Flexibility is something you need when you own your own business. It's also one of the perks. I'm so grateful to have a career that allows me to be there for my family.

You also need follow-up, determination and a commitment to reschedule when life suddenly changes your best laid plans. So if your Blitz was postponed, that's okay. Pick a new date and go for it!

[Note to Karlene's team members: As long as you've completed your Blitz and reported back to me by Wednesday, April 25th, you can still give yourself points for participation.]
